영국시험관 7.0-9.0 모범답안
This question brings back memories of the day my close friends and I had fun during a night out. We are fun-loving and we always seize the opportunity to chill out.
As you might know, there are many festive places in my city that have become popular hangouts. This includes Hongdae that I’d like to talk about. It’s located in the western part of Seoul which is highly accessible to public transport. In this hangout, there are many social amenities such as clubs, bars, cafes and restaurants.
Because we’re all fun seekers, we did several things that revelers always do each time they hit the town. For instance, my friends and I painted the town red and we danced the night away in a festive mood. In short, the nightlife was amazing.
I thought it was a truly enjoyable night out because we did several things. For instance, one of our friends who was celebrating his birthday made the most of it. Secondly, we were able to make new friends who have similar interests as us. One remarkable thing about Hongdae is that, many tourists also frequent it; therefore, we were able to mingle with some foreigners who were out enjoying life as well.
So, this is all I have to say about this topic.
Are modern people happier than those in the past?
From my observations, I think they aren't. As it is, I think we have gained much but we have lost a great deal too. In the past, life wasn't as hectic as it is today. We now live in a fast paced-society where there is survival of the fittest. As a result, people have to go the extra mile to make ends meet. For example, people used to enjoy the company of one another as a society that has close relationships . But now, globalization has split families and sometimes you can go for years without meeting one of your family members face-to-face. Besides, crime, hatred and the rising cost of living has made people less happier than in the past.
Can money make people happy?
Oh, this is an age old debate topic. Well, I think money is not the be all and end all of life. This is because there are things that money can’t buy. For instance, money can buy a bed but not sleep. To me, happiness is a state of mind and does not always depend on money 100%. In fact, there are people who are rich and still unhappy. On the other hand, we all need money to survive. Without money, we can’t afford the three basic human needs which are shelter, food and clothing.
