영국시험관 7.0-9.0 모범답안
This question reminds me of a school project that I participated in a couple of years ago.
Well, I was part and parcel of this team because it was compulsory which means nobody was exempted from it. Back then, I was still a high school student and our teacher divided the class into four teams.
I can still vividly recall that my team was made up of 8 members who were all my classmates and I had the privilege of being the team leader.
Each team was tasked with a particular project that had to be completed/finished within a given time frame. For my team, our target was to devise a product that we would design, manufacture and sell ourselves. We had to think of a product that hadn’t existed at that time yet and would be appealing to consumers.
After brainstorming, my team came up with a brilliant idea that was presented to the rest of the class. As it turned out to be, my team came out first because of the innovative ideas we suggested.
I was very delighted not only for being the team leader, but also because our team came out victorious.
This is all I have to say about a team that included me as one of its members.
Which one do you think is more important: individual development or teams’ goals?
I would say both are important. In the first place, I think team objectives tend to be bigger than individual development goals. In a team, everyone works toward the same end result, such as hitting a sales target or yielding a certain output.
However, as a general rule, people tend to invest themselves more in their personal development. This is because we were born as individual members of the society. To become a useful societal entity, you have to fully develop yourself academically and emotionally first before mingling with others.
Do you think it is a good thing to have disagreements within a team?
Well, I believe there is nothing wrong with disagreeing with a team member. In fact, to me, such disagreements means both members are fully committed to making sure that the team achieves its set goals. Having said that, disagreements that are conceived along the lines of jealousy are not healthy for the wellbeing of the team. To me, it has to be objective disagreements based on facts and figures.
