아이엘츠 스피킹 시험관 모범답안 (2020년 1월~4월) Part3 [day40]
Which is more important? Preserving old buildings or building new ones?
• Well, this is an issue that has split the public. The way I see it, I think it would be more environmentally-friendly to rehabilitate existing structures than erecting new ones. I think that it is very important to maintain old buildings because they have historical and cultural significance as well as economic value. The old buildings may have an important function in history and some are even the nations’ pride. For instance, due to its socio-cultural significance, the Gyeongbokgung Palace in my country was recently included in the list of UNESCO’s world heritage sites in South Korea.
What kinds of public buildings do people like to visit in your country?
• I think Koreans like to visit both old and modern buildings. This is because when you visit some old architectural edifices, you will see many people admiring them. This includes both the locals and foreighn alike. However, some modern high-rise buildings also have their admirers as they are quite attractive to the eye because of modern architectural ingenuity. We have the Lotte Tower and the 64 building which are extraordinarily brilliant.
